Welcome friends and supporters to our newly launched website for our non-profit group, the Ali Center for Truth and Justice. We are a community which advocates for a fair criminal justice system, civil freedoms, human rights, and prison reform.
In 2023, the Ali Center for Truth and Justice was formed by Shelley and Stuart MacInnes in honor of their son, Alexander, a Muslim American U.S held-political prisoner, a targeted victim of the “War on Terror.” Alexander is serving a 20 year sentence in a low security federal prison in Elkton,OH. His release date is 2032.
The Ali Center for Truth and Justice is based in the Berkshires, MA and works in collaboration with the Coalition for Civil Freedoms ,a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the abuses of the U.S. domestic "War on Terror." Founded in 2010, CCF is a coalition of civil liberties and human rights organizations that challenges preemptive prosecution and the post-9/11 targeting, surveillance, and criminalization of Muslim communities. The Ali Center for Truth and Justice plans to hold events to bring our stories to light in their proper context, give hope and strength to prisoners and their families, and to fight for a fair criminal justice system.
Truth Justice and Freedom through the Arts
The Coalition for Civil Freedoms and the Ali Center for Truth and Justice implemented a new program called TRUTH, JUSTICE and FREEDOM through the ARTS, which is a traveling art show displaying poetry and artwork created by CCF political prisoners. The arts can be the catalyst for healing and a powerful way to have the forgotten voices of prisoners heard on the outside. The stunning artwork and poetry has been showcased at various colleges and events in the Northeast and plans to travel beyond to other states. Donations to the Ali center to support travel will allow Shelley and Stuart to continue their efforts in promoting activism through the arts in hopes of bringing justice and freedom for their son and others.
